Plantar Fasciitis Exercise | SmartSole Exercise Insoles October 24 2014
Plantar fasciitis is a condition in which the plantar fascia — the band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot from your heel to toes — becomes inflamed after excessive stretching or overuse.
Heel pain is a common result of plantar fasciitis, as irritation turns into inflammation or swelling. To prevent heel pain and additional symptoms, and to regain mobility, try exercises to control the condition and to strengthen the plantar fascia.
Plantar fasciitis exercises are successful in dealing with the symptoms of the condition, but certain exercises—such as running, jumping, or excessive pounding of the foot—can worsen the condition. These exercises should never cause pain, but rather a pulling feeling.
A Calf Stretch is an effective plantar fasciitis exercise. Here’s how you do it:
- Stand a few inches away from a wall, facing it and place both hands on the wall with your arms extended.
- Lean against the wall and bend on leg forward with the other leg extended straight back. Your feet should both be facing forward.
- Push the rear heal to the floor and bring the hips slightly forward.
- Hold the stretch and repeat on the other leg.
Repeat this exercise twenty times for each foot.
